About

Café Sunlight is part of a social enterprise network that uses business to help change lives for the better.
We support training, volunteering and vocational placements across our business to develop a legacy of skills in our community. We are proud to work with young people, adults with learning disabilities, ex-offenders and people at risk of exclusion. We source seasonal, high quality ingredients from the best suppliers throughout Kent and the South East.

Our chefs, trainees and volunteers produce fresh, homemade food from our training kitchens in Kent everyday. Our award winning work is changing the way we look at business and its role as a tool for social change across the UK.

“I have been coming to Sunlight for about two years. I first came to volunteer in the café, but while I’ve been here I’ve started doing more things. I go to the Medway African Caribbean Association meetings. I now go to Shout Out, a self-advocacy group for adults with a learning disability, which has helped me be more confident. I have got my own radio show and been going to literacy classes. I’m getting on better and can now read a magazine. I am happier now because I have built confidence, I have made loads of new friends and I now feel confident to go out at night with my new friends as well. I’ve got a paid job at Café Sunlight now, so I can do things on my own, I meet new people and I can meet new friends to do things together which makes me happy.”
